The Denver Sexual Health Clinic (DSHC) is adding new options, such as at-home testing, updated HIV prevention, and improved family planning services, so patients have more ways to care for their health.
In 2025, DSHC saw almost 10,000 patients. The clinic offered sexually transmitted infections (STI) testing and treatment, HIV prevention with pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), quick start HIV treatment for new diagnoses, and a range of birth control and family planning services.
Bringing Syphilis Testing Home
For some, getting tested at a clinic can be difficult. At-home testing offers another choice. The DSHC has provided adults across Colorado with low- to no-cost at-home testing for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and HIV. About 3,000 STI and HIV testing kits were mailed in 2025.
In February 2026, Test Yourself Colorado (TYC) expanded its offerings by introducing the First To Know® Syphilis Test, the first FDA-approved over-the-counter at-home syphilis antibody test. Offering another way to check status helps people overcome barriers and connects more Coloradans to needed care.
A New HIV Prevention Option Is Coming to DSHC
Soon, patients will have another HIV prevention option. DSHC is preparing to offer Yeztugo (lenacapavir), a long-acting injection for HIV PrEP. Unlike daily pills, Yeztugo is given twice a year, making it a good choice for people who want fewer doses. The clinic plans to start offering Yeztugo in the next few weeks, first to uninsured patients who qualify and enroll in patient assistance programs. A New Non-Hormonal Birth Control Option
The DHSC’s Family Planning Program has made changes to offer more birth control choices and improve patients’ experiences. Our patients can now get Phexx, a non-hormonal birth control option. Phexx is a vaginal gel that helps prevent pregnancy.
Additional Pain Management Options During IUD Placement
Keeping in line with the most up-to-date and patient-centered family planning services, the DSHC clinic now offers cervical injections and paracervical blocks to help manage pain during IUD placement.
