Does medical insurance cover travel vaccinations?

Some medical insurance plans offer coverage for travel related services. Here at the Public Health Immunization and Travel Clinic we do not bill insurance plans for travel related services. We do offer an itemized bill that you can submit to your insurance plan to seek full or partial reimbursement. Please note, Medicaid does not pay for most travel related services.

Do I need to make an appointment for a travel consultation?

Yes, you MUST make a travel consultation appointment if:

  • You need a prescription (such as malaria, traveler's diarrhea or high altitude sickness.)
  • If you are unsure which vaccinations you need for travel and want to learn more about general travel advice.

Travel consultations fill up quickly. It is recommended that you make an appointment at least six weeks before your departure.

Can I walk in if I know which vaccines I need for my trip?

We are no longer a walk-in clinic and require appointments for all vaccines. If you know which vaccines you need for your trip, and do not require prescriptions for travel medications you can make a simple vaccination appointment. No consult fees apply.

Do you offer Covid-19 testing?

Yes, we offer COVID-19 PCR testing in the clinic. The service is available for individuals who require documentation for travel, clearance for camp, school or sports, and concerts or events. Testing is not available for anyone with symptoms or who has recently been exposed to someone with COVID-19. The cost of $125 per test, is not covered by insurance. Learn more about our COVID-19 testing.
