Care for serious infections other than HIV.

We provide follow-up care if you have been started on intravenous (IV) antibiotics in the hospital. Long courses of IV antibiotics (2 to 8 weeks) are often used for treatment of serious bacterial infections of bones and joints, heart valves and abscesses deep within the body.

If you are on IV antibiotics you need to be seen at least once a week to make sure you infection is getting better, the antibiotic is not causing side effects, and to make sure the IV catheter is working well. We do blood tests every week to check for side effects from the antibiotic and to see how well the treatment is working. We work with a home nursing agency and a special pharmacy that supplies antibiotics for home treatment.

The Infectious Diseases Clinic offers a hepatitis C clinic on Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., and Thursdays from 1 - 4 p.m. We also provide specialty care upon approved referral for hepatitis B. Contact the clinic for more information.
